The Journal of Philosophy was founded in 1904 as The Journal of Philosophy, Psychology, and Scientific Methods by Frederick J. E. Woodbridge and J. McKeen Cattell. In 1906, Wendell T. Bush became associated with the Journal as co-editor. In 1923, the Journal was incorporated in the State of New York under its present name. Since its founding it has been published from Columbia University. It is typeset by Dartmouth Journal Services, Waterbury, VT, and printed by The Sheridan Press, Hanover, PA. The editors note with sorrow the death of Mary Mothersill, Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at Barnard College and a member of the Journal's editorial board since 1982, on January 22, 2008. Individual subscribers will now receive online access at no additional charge and will utilize a user name and password for entry.Subscribers at the reduced student/retired rate will not receive complementary online access and will need to upgrade their subscriptions to the individual rate if online access is desired. We will not be offering an online-only option in the immediate future. Overseas subscribers can, however, opt to decline to receive the print version and thereby eliminate the international postage surcharge. Please note that no cancellation requests or refunds will be accepted for the current year for online subscriptions once a subscription has been entered and payment processed. Notice: Claims: We are no longer able to honor claims for international subscribers and ship replacement copies free of charge. International subscribers wishing to claim missing issues must pay for shipping if they wish a replacement copy or supply the address of a domestic subscription agency who will forward the copy at their expense.
